I like to have a combination of songs in my storytime – some that I sing a capella and songs from a variety of music cds. I think having both of these aspects illustrates to parents that you don’t HAVE to have a cd to have music and singing in your child’s life, while at the same time highlighting some of the options we have at the library if they prefer to experience music that way. Also, since I’m not a skilled vocalist by any means, I’m also hoping to convey that you don’t need to have a perfect voice to sing and enjoy music with your child.
