Bugs – Toddler Storytime

Spring feels like it’s a good time for bugs.  So this is one of a few bug storytimes I did throughout the system for this Spring Storytime Session.

FLANNELBOARD:
Bug in a Rug

Template & Rhyme from Felt Board Fingerplays by Liz and Dick Wilmes

For this session, since it was with toddlers, I only put up a few different bugs, and not all 7.  I think I used 4.

Place all the bugs on the board and name each one.  Then put the rug up.  Tell the kids that you are going to play a game and hide one of the bugs under the rug.  They close their eyes, and you hide one bug.  Tell them to open them, then say,

Bug in a Rug
Bug in a Rug
Who is that
Bug in a Rug?

Have the children guess.  Repeat the game until it gets old. (I did it with three different bugs.)  Then have kids name all the bugs again as you put them away.

Here’s another storytime where I filled in for a staff member.  This happened back in November — I’m trying to catch up on my posts and backlog!

Bears – Toddler Storytime

This was from a storytime a while back, where I filled in for a staff member who was feeling under the weather.  Since I’m at a new system, I was trying to adapt a bit to the style of the Librarian I was filling in for, so that attendees would recognize some of the songs.

Which means I get to learn new things to incorporate into storytime!
